The Koran and the Sunnah, a Way to an Understanding of Islam

The Koran; Allahs own words; unchanged, universal, eternal and final, given to the last prophet, Mohammed, by a series of revelations. The Sunna; The life of the prophet, what he said (hadith) and what he did (sira), inspired by Allah and a pattern for each and every muslim to follow;" Certainly you have in the Messenger of Allah an excellent exemplar for him who hopes in Allah and the latter day and remembers Allah much." (Khoran 33:21). These are the scriptures that sharia, the Islamic Holy Law is based on.

Islam impossible to revise without a denial of God

Since the verses (suras) of Allah is both eternal, universal and final it´s almost impossible to revise (modernise) the religion of Islam."...; and there is none to change the words of Allah,..." (Khoran 6:34), " And the word of your Lord has been accomplished truly and justly; there is none who can change His words, and He is the Hearing, the Knowing." (Khoran 6:115), "They shall have good news in this world's life and in the hereafter; there is no changing the words of Allah; that is the mighty achievement" (Khoran 10:64)

The concept of "Bida" forbids innovation in religion

"Beware of matters newly begun, for every matter newly begun is innovation, every innovation is misguidance, and every misguidance is in hell." ( ) , " ... the only form of innovation that is without exception misguidance is that concerning tenets of faith, like the innovations of the Mutazilites, Qadarites, Murjiites, and so on, that contradicted the beliefs of the early Muslims. This is the innovation of misguidance because it is harmful and devoid of benefit." And they who try to revise or modernise islam then?

Religion for muslims is din - law

"...for Muslims this word, "religion" does not have the same connotation as the word "religion" has for Christians or even had for medieval Christians. "Religion" for Muslims means both more and less than the equivalent term for Christians. The different words used to designate them are indicative. The word "religion" now common to virtually all the languages of European Christendom, both eastern and western, derives from the Latin religio. This pre-Christian term for the cult and rituals of pagan Rome was first Christianizes by Saint Jerome in his Latin translation of the Bible. The Islamic term din, originally Arabic but adopted in all the many languages of Islam. The cognate word in other Semitic languages , notably Hebrew and Aramaic, means law. For Muslims, Islam is not a merely a system of belief and worship, a compartment of life, so to speak, distinct from other compartments which are the concern of nonreligious authorities administring nonreligious laws. It is rather the whole of life, and it´s rules include civil, criminal, and even what we would call constitutional law."

The content of the holy scriptures of Islam

"A huge problem with reformation is the amount of political doctrine. Aboust two thirds of the Koran of Mecca deals with condemning unbelievers to Hell for merely disagreeing with Mohammed. Over half of the Koran of Medina deals with hypocrates and jihad against the unbelievers. Nearly 75% of the Sira deals with jihad. About 20% of the hadith by Bukhari is about jihad. The Harbi

The London-based Arabic language daily Asharq Al-Awsat interviewed Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi on July 19, 2003, where he said: "It has been determined by Islamic law that the blood and property of people of Dar Al-Harb [the Domain of Disbelief where the battle for the domination of Islam should be waged] is not protected.", Also, in an interview conducted in July 2003 by the Egyptian newspaper Al-Haqiqa, Dr. Sheikh Ali Gomaa said:"...it is permitted to kill him, because he is a Harbi and the Harbi spreads corruption throughout the face of the earth.",

Umma versus the infidels

Islam is apartheid, due to gender and due to religious affinity. It not just separates and excludes, it also values a man due to his religion. The logic is simpel, a muslim is always worth more than a non-muslim and it is because the muslim is pleasing Allah, whence the non-muslim not pleases him, when he´s a denyer of Allah and the prophet Muhammed. "They are one community (umma) to the exclusion of all man" , "A believer shall no slay a believer for the sake of an unbeliever, nor shall he aid an unbeliever against a believer... Believers are friends one to the other to the exclusion of outsiders...." (Ibn IShaq; The Life of Muhammad/Sirat Rasul Allah, Oxford University Press, 2006, s.232)

Islam and the secular state

"Secularism may be accepted in a Christian society but it can never enjoy a general acceptance in an Islamic society. The New Testament itself divides life into two parts: one for God, or religion, the other for Caesar, or the state: "Render unto Caesar things which belong to Caesar, and render unto God things which belong to God" (Matthew 22:21). The Peaceful Revolutionaries-Islamization by Penetrating the System

"While they do not officially advocate the use of violence in the West (although they do so in Iraq and the Palestinian territories), it can be argued that these revivalist groups pose a challenge more insidious than that of other Islamists who openly challenge Western governments and values. Thanks to their public words of moderation, they often manage to establish preferential relationships with European elites. In some cases, they are even seen as partners in European governments' fight against radicalization. The legitimization and power they acquire through these government endorsements allow them to augment their status within the Muslim community and, hence, their ability to radicalize it". Islamist reformism - creeping sharia

"Once the community is well organised, its leaders should strive to seek recognition of Muslims as a religious community having its own characteristics by the authorities. Eventually the community may seek to gain political rights as a constituent community of the nation. An Excerpt from a document containing the Muslim Brotherhoods strategy for North America

4- Understanding the role of the Muslim Brother in North America:

What the Khoran has to say about the unbelievers (non-muslims)

"De skulle önska, att ni bleven otrogna liksom de själva och sålunden vorden dem lika. Skaffen eder ej några beskyddare ibland dem, förrän de utvandra för Guds sak! Om de vänder eder ryggen, så gripen dem och döden dem, varhelst I finnen dem, och skaffen eder ej någon beskyddare och hjälpare ibland dem." (sura 4:91)

"The punishment of those who wage war against Allah and His messenger and strive to make mischief in the land is only this, that they should be murdered or crucified or their hands and their feet should be cut off on opposite sides or they should be imprisoned; this shall be as a disgrace for them in this world, and in the hereafter they shall have a grievous chastisement," (sura 5:33)

"He it is Who sent His Messenger with guidance and the religion of truth, that He might cause it to prevail over all religions, though the polytheists may be averse." (sura 9:33)

"He it is Who sent His Messenger with the guidance and the true religion that He may make it prevail over all the religions; and Allah is enough for a witness." , "Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah, and those with him are firm of heart against the unbelievers, compassionate among themselves; ..." "O you who believe! do not take for intimate friends from among others than your own people; they do not fall short of inflicting loss upon you; they love what distresses you; vehement hatred has already appeared from out of their mouths, and what their breasts conceal is greater still; indeed, We have made the communications clear to you, if you will understand." (sura 3:118)

"O you who believe! do not take the unbelievers for friends rather than the believers; do you desire that you should give to Allah a manifest proof against yourselves?" (sura 4:143)

"So when the sacred months have passed away, then slay the idolaters wherever you find them, and take them captives and besiege them and lie in wait for them in every ambush, then if they repent and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, leave their way free to them; surely Allah is Forgiving, Merciful." (sura 9:5)

"So when you meet in battle those who disbelieve, then smite the necks until when you have overcome them, then make (them) prisoners, and afterwards either set them free as a favor or let them ransom (themselves) until the war terminates..." (sura 47:4)

"Therefore if you overtake them in fighting, then scatter by (making an example of) them those who are in their rear, that they may be mindful." (sura 8:59)

"O Prophet! strive hard against the unbelievers and the hypocrites and be unyielding to them; and their abode is hell, and evil is the destination." (sura 9:74)

"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." (sura 9:29)

"And kill them wherever you find them, and drive them out from whence they drove you out, and persecution is severer than slaughter, and do not fight with them at the Sacred Mosque until they fight with you in it, but if they do fight you, then slay them; such is the recompense of the unbelievers." (sura 2:191)

"And fight with them until there is no persecution, and religion should be only for Allah, but if they desist, then there should be no hostility except against the oppressors." (sura 2:193)

“We smote them and they scattered. The impious met death. They became fuel for Hell. All who aren’t Muslims must go there. It will consume them while the Stoker [Allah] increases the heat. They had called Allah’s Apostle a liar. They claimed, ‘You are nothing but a sorcerer.’ So Allah destroyed them.” (Ishaq:344).

What the Khoran and the sunna has to say about the jews

"Abu Huraira reported Allah’s Messenger (may peace be upon him) as saying: The last hour would not come unless the Muslims will fight against the Jews and the Muslims would kill them until the Jews would hide themselves behind a stone or a tree and a stone or a tree would say: Muslim, or the servant of Allah, there is a Jew behind me; come and kill him; but the tree Gharqad would not say, for it is the tree of the Jews". (Sahih Muslim, Book 41, Hadith 6985:)

"Kill any Jews that fall into your power" said the Prophet: (Ibn Ishaq; s.369)

"And certainly you have known those among you who exceeded the limits of the Sabbath, so We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated." (sura 2:65)

För all denna orättfärdighet hos dem, som äro judar, hava vi förbjudit dem goda ting, som varit dem tillåtna, och detta särskilt därför, att de utestänga så många från Guds väg. "O you who believe! do not take for guardians those who take your religion for a mockery and a joke, from among those who were given the Book before you and the unbelievers; and be careful of (your duty to) Allah if you are believers." (sura 5:57)

"And the Jews say: Uzair is the son of Allah; and the Christians say: The Messiah is the son of Allah; these are the words of their mouths; they imitate the saying of those who disbelieved before; may Allah destroy them; how they are turned away!" (sura 9:30)

"Therefore when they revoltingly persisted in what they had been forbidden, We said to them: Be (as) apes, despised and hated." ( sura 7:166)

"And We had made known to the children of Israel in the Book: Most certainly you will make mischief in the land twice, and most certainly you will behave insolently with great insolence." (sura 17:4)

The real reason why so many muslims hate jews- their denial of Muhammeds prophethood

"The physical elimination of the Medina Jews was accompanied by Islam´s growing break with its jewish origins... they became his staunchest critics, highlighting the gaps and inconsticensies of the Qur´an and its misrepresentation of the Old Testament stories. The embittered Muhammad began to cast the Jews in his revelations as devious and treacherous people, who had persecuted past prophets and falsified the Holy scriptures." (Efraim Karsh. What the Khoran and the sunna has to say about jihad

"When your Lord revealed to the angels: I am with you, therefore make firm those who believe. I will cast terror into the hearts of those who disbelieve. Therefore strike off their heads and strike off every fingertip of them." (sura 8:12)

"Allah's Apostle was asked, "What is the best deed?" He replied, "To believe in Allah and His Apostle (Muhammad). The questioner then asked, "What is the next (in goodness)? He replied, "To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's Cause." The questioner again asked, "What is the next (in goodness)?" He replied, "To perform Hajj (Pilgrim age to Mecca) 'Mubrur, (which is accepted by Allah and is performed with the intention of seeking Allah's pleasure only and not to show off and without committing a sin and in accordance with the traditions of the Prophet)." (Sahih al-Bukhari vol. 1, Book 2, Number 25).

"Fighting is enjoined on you, and it is an object of dislike to you; and it may be that you dislike a thing while it is good for you, and it may be that you love a thing while it is evil for you, and Allah knows, while you do not know." (sura 2:216)

"O you who believe! fight those of the unbelievers who are near to you and let them find in you hardness; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil)." (sura 9:124)

"You will find others who desire that they should be safe from you and secure from their own people; as often as they are sent back to the mischief they get thrown into it headlong; therefore if they do not withdraw from you, and (do not) offer you peace and restrain their hands, then seize them and kill them wherever you find them; and against these We have given you a clear authority." (sura 4.91)

"The holders back from among the believers, not having any injury, and those who strive hard in Allah's way with their property and their persons are not equal; Allah has made the strivers with their property and their persons to excel the holders back a (high) degree, and to each (class) Allah has promised good; and Allah shall grant to the strivers above the holders back a mighty reward:" (sura 4.95)

"Fight those who do not believe in Allah, nor in the latter day, nor do they prohibit what Allah and His Messenger have prohibited, nor follow the religion of truth, out of those who have been given the Book, until they pay the tax in acknowledgment of superiority and they are in a state of subjection." "Surely the number of months with Allah is twelve months in Allah's ordinance since the day when He created the heavens and the earth, of these four being sacred; that is the right reckoning; therefore be not unjust to yourselves regarding them, and fight the polytheists all together as they fight you all together; and know that Allah is with those who guard (against evil)." (sura 9:36)

" If you do not go forth, He will chastise you with a painful chastisement and bring in your place a people other than you, and you will do Him no harm; and Allah has power over all things." (sura 9:39)

"Allah's Apostle was asked, 'What is the best deed?' He replied, 'To believe in Allah and His Apostle' (Muhammad). The questioner then asked, 'What is the next (in goodness)?' He replied, 'To participate in Jihad (religious fighting) in Allah's Cause'..." (Sahih Bukhari 2:25).

"Allah's Apostle said: "I have been ordered (by Allah) to fight against the people until they testify that none has the right to be worshipped but Allah and that Muhammad is Allah's Apostle, and offer the prayers perfectly and give the obligatory charity, so if they perform a that, then they save their lives and property from me except for Islamic laws and then their reckoning (accounts) will be done by Allah."(Sahih Bukhari 2:24)

"Allah's Apostle said, 'I have been ordered to fight the people till they say: 'None has the right to be worshipped but Allah.' And if they say so, pray like our prayers, face our Qibla and slaughter as we slaughter, then their blood and property will be sacred to us and we will not interfere with them except legally and their reckoning will be with Allah." (Sahih Bukhari 8:387)

"I have been commanded to fight people until they testify that there is no god but Allah and that Mohammed is the messenger of Allah..." (Sahih Muslim 1:33)

"When you meet your enemies who are polytheists [Christians...], invite them to three courses of action. If they respond to any one of these, you also accept it and withhold yourself from doing them any harm. Invite them to (accept) Islam; if they respond to you, accept it from them and desist from fighting against them ... If they refuse to accept Islam, demand from them the Jizya. If they agree to pay, accept it from them and hold off your hands. If they refuse to pay the tax, seek Allah's help and fight them" (Sahih Muslim 19:4294)

“Allah said, ‘A prophet must slaughter before collecting captives. A slaughtered enemy is driven from the land. Muhammad, you craved the desires of this world, its goods and the ransom captives would bring. But Allah desires killing them to manifest the religion." (Ishaq 327)

"Then the apostle sent Khalid bin Walid… to the Banu al-Harith and ordered him to invite them to Islam three days before he attacked them. If they accepted then he was to accept it from them, and if they declined he was to fight them. So Khalid set out and came to them, and sent out riders in all directions inviting the people to Islam, saying, “If you accept Islam you will be safe.” So the men accepted Islam as they were invited." (ibn Ishaq 959)

The four islamic shools of jurisprudence and their view of jihad

"Jihad is a precept of Divine institution. Its performance by cetain individuals may dispense others from it. We Malikis maintain that it is prefeable not to begin hostilities with the enemy before having invited the latter to embrace the religion of Allah excepts where the enemy attacks first. They have the alternative of either converting to Islam or paying the poll tax (Jizyia), short of which war will be declared against them" (Ibn Abi Zayd al-Qayrawani, Maliki jurist).

"Sincelawful warfare is essentially jihad and since its aim is that the religion is Gods´s entirely and God´s word is uppermost, therefore according to all Muslims, those who stand in the way of this aim must be fought. As for those who cannot offer resistance or cannot fight, such as women, children, monks, old people, the blind, handicapped and their likes, they shall not be killed unless they actually fight with words and acts" (Ibn Taymiyyah, Hanbali jurist)

"It is not lawful to make war upon any peolple who have never before been called to the faith, without previously requiring them to embrace it, because the Prophet so instructed his commanders, directing them to call the infidels to the faith, and also because the people will hence perceive that they are attacked for the sake of religion, and not for the sake of their property, or making slaves of their children, and on this consideration it is possible that they may be induced to agree to the call, in order to save themselves from the troubles of war.... If the infidels, upon receiving the call, neither consent to it nor agree to pay capitation tax, it is then incumbent on the Muslims to call upon God for assistence, and to make war upon them, because God is the assistant of those who serve Him, and the destroyer of His enemies, the infidels, and it is necessary to implore His aid upon every occasion; the Prophet, moreover, commands us to do". (From primarily the Hanafi school, as given in the Hidayah of Shaikh Burhannudin Ali of Marghinan).

"The mushrikun (infidels) of Dar al-Harb are of two types: First those whom the call of Islam had reached, but they have refused it and have taken up arms. The amir of the army has the option of fighting them ... in accordance with what he judges to be in the best interest of the Muslims and most harmful to the mushrikun ... Second, those whom the invitation to Islam has not reached, although such persons are few nowadays since Allah had made manifest the call of his Messanger ... it is forbidden to ... begin an attack before explaining the invitation to Islam to them, informing them of the miracles of the Prophet and making plain the proofess as to encourage acceptance on their part; if they still refuse to accept after this, war is waged against them and they are treated as those whom the call has reached." "Those who know nothing of Islam pretend that Islam counsels against war. Those are witless".

The objectives of jihad

"The Caliph (o25) makes war upon Jews, Christians and Zoroastrians (N:provided he has first invited them to enter Islam in faith and practice, and if they will not, then invited to enter the social order of Islam by paying the non-Muslim poll tax (jizia, def:o11.4)-which is the significance of their paying it, not the money itself while remaining in their ancestral religions) (O: and the war continues) until they become Muslim or else pay the non-Muslim poll tax (O:in accordance with the word of Allah Most High,"(se sura 9:29)" (Reliance of the Traveller. A Classic Manual of Islami Sacred Law. Amana Publications 1994. s.602).

Jihad - a war that never ends

"o9.9 The caliph fights all other peoples until they become Muslim..." , 09:16 (O. As for truces, the author does not mention them. In Sacred Law truce means a peace treaty with those hostile to Islam, involving a cessation of figthing for a specified period, wheter for payment or something else..."... There must be some interest served in making a truce other than mere preservation of the status quo. Allah Most High says". , "So dont be faintharted and call for peace, when it is you who are the uppermost (Koran 47:359)". (Reliance of the Traveller. A Classic Manual of Islamic Sacred Law. The "moderate" Yusuf al-Qaradawi on jihad

"The meaning of Jihad in our present time particularly refers to striving to liberate Muslim lands from the grip of the disbelievers who usurped them and imposed on them their own laws in lieu of the Divine Law. Those disbelievers may be Jews, Christians or both or even pagans, who follow no particular religion at all. Disbelievers are all alike." , "Retrieving these lands, freeing them from the clutches of atheists and their twisted laws is the joint responsibility of all Muslims. Declaring Jihad to save our land is an Islamic obligation." , "If war is waged anywhere to achieve this goal, namely to free the occupied lands of the laws and the tyranny of disbelievers, it is undoubtedly a case of Jihad for the sake of Allah". Jihad is of various kind

"Jihad is of various kinds, with one´s self, one's wealth, by making du`a´, by teaching and guiding, by helping to do good in any way. The greatest form of jihad is jihad with one´s self (i.e., going oneself and fighting), followed by jihad with one's wealth, jihad by speaking out and guiding others. Da`wah is also part of jihad. Even the alms (zakat, one of islams five pillars) can be used as a mean to finance little jihad

It thus needs to be financed from the money of Zakah, the amount of which is to be decided based on the total sum of the charity, the requirements of Jihad as well as the degree of the need of other potential recipients of charity.
